Bernard L. ‘Ben’ Majercin

1934-2018

STREATOR — Bernard L. “Ben” Majercin, 84, of Streator, passed away at 1:12 a.m. Thursday, April 19, at his residence.

Memorial visitation will be from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. Monday, April 30, at Hagi & Baker Funeral Home. Memorial Mass will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday at St. Michael the Archangel Church. The Rev. Raymond Guthrie will officiate. Military rites will be accorded following Mass by Leslie G. Woods American Legion Post 217 and Streator Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1492. Interment will be in St. Stephen’s Cemetery.

He was born Feb. 5, 1934, in Streator, to John and Catherine (Popovich) Majercin. He married the former Sandra Francis on Aug. 19, 1967, in Ottawa. She survives.

He also is survived by sisters, Teresa (Harry) Willever, of Cupertino, Calif., and Frances Uhren, of Waco, Texas; and nieces and nephews, Anita Smith, Sally Roach, David and Doug Pshak and Mickey Majercin.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Edward, John and James Majercin; a sister, Virginia Sereg; and brothers-in-law, Robert Uhren and Paul Sereg.

He graduated from Streator High School and then served in the United States Navy during the Korean War.
