Eugene S. "Hap" Tucker
Major Eugene S. "Hap" Tucker, 81, U.S. Marine Corps Retired, died March 6, 2002, in Paoli, Pennsylvania, with his family at his side.
Mr. Tucker was born on November 7, 1920, in East Rockaway, New York. He and his first wife were married 58 years. He was a fighter pilot in World War II and a flight instructor in the Korean War. He served as a test pilot for the first jets used by the Navy and Marine Corps out of Patuxent River, Maryland.
He was a Boy Scout leader at St. Raymond's Church for 17 years, a tertiary of the Order of St. Dominic, and a vice president of John P. Tilden in New York City for 50 years. He was an insurance broker in New York City as well.
He spent his vacations and summers at Willoughby Lake for 65 years.
He enjoyed skiing at Burke Mountain with his family, grandchildren, and friends. He rode his Honda to church. He enjoyed flying with Sherilyn Pyden and Linda and Allan Herman, playing tennis with Sis, Cindy, Jerry, Karl, and Stan, and driving his 50-year-old red jeep with his pal, Gertrude Matilda. He liked to trail blaze in the woods with Lieutenant Commander W.J. Clemente, U.S. Naval Reserve.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Clemente Tucker; and by his daughters: Pamela A. Tucker, Claudia B. Gallagher, and Elizabeth M. Tucker. He had wonderful loyal friends. He had six adopted daughters: Carol Cashman, Cindy Cesark, Cathy Entwistle, Kim Clemente, Sherilyn Pyden, and Gertrude Matilda. He had 11 grandchildren: R.B. Tucker, Jason Tucker, Megan Cashman, Daniel Darian, and Jarett Vito, Justin Corritore, Kristen E. Koehler, Holly and Heather Gallagher, and Adam Cesark; and three great-grandchildren: Cassy Rae Koehler Corritore, Natasha Tucker, and Kara Vito. He was predeceased by his son Michael J. Tucker and by his daughter Barbara M. Gebhart.
Donations in his memory may be made to a favorite charity or to Fire Chief Kimball Johnson, Westmore, Vermont.
Spring burial will be private in Westmore.
Curtis-Britch and Converse-Rushford Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements.
